Born and raised in Scarborough in 1957, Felicity left school at 15 with no qualifications. Initially working as an office junior, Felicity was quickly promoted gaining skills in a number of areas that she was able to develop in her future career in teaching. Having her first son at the age of 24, she left the workplace to dedicate her time to her young family. It was when the youngest of her three sons started school that she decided to return to school and catch up with the education which she had missed out on as teenager.
After graduating with honours in English literature and language, she joined her English lecturers as their seminar leader for English studies, whilst taking a year out to work in the voluntary sector as a literacy adviser and a Christian charity worker. She moved on to teach English at her local secondary school whilst completing her MA. She then went on to complete her NPQH – the National Qualification for Headship. She is currently taking time away from her teaching to travel, research and write.
Felicity Davis was a finalist in the 2009 Barbara Taylor Bradford Woman of Substance Awards, recognising women who’ve become high achievers against the odds.
